Young Musicians Scholarship
Above all, the Vero Beach Choral Society is about giving back to our community. The generous donations from our patrons makes it possible for us to fund the Young Musicians Scholarship which we proudly present to a deserving student musician in grades 6 - 12 in our community.
Below are some of their incredible accomplishments.
Kaydence
My name is Kaydence, and I am twelve years old and currently in the eighth grade. I am part of a homeschool co-op, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow through music.
For a little over a year, I have had the pleasure of participating in handbells and taking piano lessons with Mr. Peter Mahtani. During this time, my understanding and newfound love of music theory has grown tremendously, along with my love and appreciation for music. My piano playing has also improved substantially, thanks to the guidance, encouragement, and support of Mr. Peter, who continually challenges me to recognize and strive to reach my full potential.
Participating in handbells and piano has truly inspired me to dream big about my future. One day, I hope to become the lead pianist at my church and use my love of music to serve others. I also hope to pay it forward by providing other children with the same opportunity to learn and experience the joy of learning and playing music that I have been fortunate enough to receive.
When I first began playing the piano years ago, I often felt lost and confused. Now, I look forward to every practice session and I am always excited to learn something new. Because of the many opportunities and experiences these lessons have given me, I would love the chance to give back to my community and help inspire other young people to discover the same love for music that has become so meaningful to me.
Kai-Leigh
Kai-Leigh is a gifted and dedicated vocalist currently completing her junior year of high school. With three years of intensive experience in Choral and Advanced Choir programs at Indian River Charter High School, she has already demonstrated a profound commitment to her musical education. As a proud member of the First Presbyterian Church Youth Choir, Kai-Leigh has had the privilege of touring and performing in both Pittsburgh and Puerto Rico, gaining invaluable stage experience along the way.
While she enjoys exploring all styles of music, Kai-Leigh has developed a distinct passion for choral and classical repertoire. Supported by the encouragement of her teachers and peers, she is eager to expand her focus toward solo performance during her upcoming senior year. Through her recently awarded voice scholarship, Kai-Leigh looks forward to expanding her vocal range, advancing her sight-reading proficiency, and continuing to refine her classical technique as an emerging solo artist.
Kaitlin
Kaitlin is a Vero-based 16-year-old whose favorite things to do are to perform, write, and perform some more. Since age 5, she has been performing on stage in musicals and plays such as Into the Woods (Little Red), Puffs (Susie Bones/Moaning Myrtle), and Mayzie (Suessical). She has always adored cinema and intends to major in film and film-acting. She has big dreams of working on screen and, one day, behind the scenes as a screenwriter too. She currently takes private voice lessons and sings in the youth choir of First Presbyterian Church. Kaitlin is grateful to Peter Mahtani for being her instructor and teacher, and particularly grateful to the Vero Beach Choral Society for their scholarship and support.
